At Boehringer Ingelheim, our commitment to advanced research and development is matched only by our commitment to sharing our knowledge with those in the field. To that end, we offer several services to pork producers and veterinarians that are unique to the industry.
Our Professional Services Veterinarians, or PSVs, are swine specialists and work exclusively with swine producers and veterinarians in the field. The PSV team of 13-plus DVMs make our commitment to providing professional service in the field unrivaled in the industry.
Each of these professionals brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the field - many are board certified or hold masters degrees. And with a program of continuing education and professional development, like the Executive Veterinary Program at the University of Illinois, they are constantly bringing new knowledge to their customers.
Located within the Iowa State University Research Park in Ames, Iowa, the Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI) Health Management Center (HMC) provides services and support to our customers throughout the pork chain. Services are provided in conjunction with BIVI Customer Representatives and Professional Services Veterinarians in the field.
The HMC is made up of two teams — the DXL (Diagnostic Testing Laboratory) and PIG (Process Improvement Group).
Originally designed to monitor and control PCVAD, the MAGIC program has evolved into a comprehensive swine health assessment program covering the major swine diseases:
Combining survey information provided by the participating producer and BIVI representative with serum testing conducted at the BIVI HMC and tissue work-ups performed at the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Lab, an overall appraisal of pig health is completed. The cost of testing is shared jointly between BIVI and the participating producer.
